According to the Minister for Industry, Trade, Investment and the Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid Elalamy, Chinese FDIs increased by 195% between 2011 and 2015 and were multiplied five-fold during the 2013-14 period alone.
In 2015, FDI jumped 94% going from 203 to 393 million dirhams.*
In a little less than two years, China moved up 15 places in the ranking of countries investing in Morocco, going from 32ndin 2013 to 17thin 2015.
The Minister explained that this exponential, on-going increase in Chinese FDIs has lead to the arrival of large-scale projects in a variety of sectors including textile-clothing, metallurgy, renewable energy. He also noted that the trend was only going to increase.
