Gypsum: Saint-Gobain and Lafarge create a new Moroccan giant

Saint-Gobain and Lafarge Maroc have announced the merger of their plaster activities to create Lafarge Placo Maroc. The company will be specialised in the manufacturing and sale of gypsum based products destined for the Moroccan market and West Africa.

The new company is a 50/50 joint venture and brings together the activities of Lafarge Platre Maroc – historic market leader in Moroccan plaster products - and Moongypse, a more recent company, owned by Saint-Gobain and the Moroccan company Plachister.

Lafarge Placo Maroc will use 2 factories located in the Safi region, the management of the new entity will be given to Saint-Gobain.
