Morocco is the number 1 nation in North Africa for sustainable economic development, according to the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG) 2016.
Over the last 10 years the country has grown by 13%, and was awarded a score of 67.4 points out of 100, demonstrating the strongest economic growth this decade for North Africa according to the report. Egypt comes in second place with 57.3 points, followed by Tunisia with 56.7 points, while in the same period Algeria shrank by 5.2%. As for the whole continent, Morocco comes in 3rd after South Africa (2nd) and Mauritius (1st).
The IIAG uses 95 indicators from 34 independent sources to evaluate the change in governance for the 54 countries on the continent.
