Taqa Morocco, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Energy Company (Taqa) and number 1 private producer of electricity in Morocco, has invested 40 billion MAD over the last 20 years. The work has primarily been undertaken at its Jorf Lasfar power station, the biggest coal fired power station in the MENA region. One of the main focuses of this investment has been the expansion of the power station through the construction of 2 new units. This increased the station's capacity by 700 megawatts to a total of 2,056 megawatts.
Brought into service in 2014, units 5&6 alone represented an investment of 13 Billion MAD.
