With existing capacity estimated at 892 MW, Morocco is now second in the MEA region (Middle East and Africa) for wind farms, behind South Africa (1.5 GW). This evaluation was made in the study Middle East and Africa Wind Power Outlook” published by the Danish firm MAKE Consulting. In total, regional capacity has reached 4.2 GW, of which 676 MW was added just last year. The additional capacity was primarily created in South Africa (459 MW) and in Morocco (100 MW) through the Akhfenir II wind farm.
